My Formula for Soft, Silky, Easy To Detangle Hair
Up until recently, I never quite understood what it meant to have soft, easy to detangle hair. For the longest time I thought detangling was something to be dreaded because running a comb through my wet hair used to be so difficult. My hair would snap, my scalp would become tender and I would lose tons of hair just from detangling.
Pity, I didn’t know then what I know now. That detangling can be a pain free process where the comb glides easily through your hair instead of snagging and breaking.
Here is how I get soft, silky, easy to detangle hair every time I wash.

- While in the shower, I wet my hair as I typically do before shampooing
- I then pour a small amount of Vo5 Herbal Escapes moisturizing shampoo in the palm of my hands
- Add 1/2 teaspoon (not more than 1 tsp) of baking soda on top of that
- Using my fingers, I mix the shampoo and baking soda together until the baking soda is thoroughly blended with the shampoo and it forms a creamy mixture.
- I then massage the shampoo mixed with baking soda throughout my hair as I normally would regular shampoo.
- I rinse and repeat steps 2-5 until my hair feels clean. Typically I only need to shampoo twice.
- I rinse out the last lather of shampoo and squeeze out the excess water from my hair
- I then pour a good amount of Vo5 Herbal Escapes Moisturizing Conditioner (Freesia) into the palm of my hands and then massage into my hair from roots to ends.
- I apply as much conditioner as needed to saturate all my hair.
- My hair feels very slippery as this point since it’s thoroughly coated in conditioner.
- I cover my hair with a plastic shower cap for the 5 or minutes it takes for me to finish showering
- After removing the shower cap, my hair is incredibly soft and slippery.
- I then stand directly under the stream of the shower and begin to detangle with my wide tooth comb.
- I start from the ends and work my way up to the roots.
- There is absolutely no resistance. The combs glides right through my hair.
By the time I am finished detangling the conditioner is completely washed out. If not, I let the water run through my hair until the conditioner is all gone.
Please Note: I have only ever tried this in my own hair using the products listed below. Results may vary with different shampoo and conditioner. I have fine, naturally coily hair and this works wonders for me. Give it a try, what do you have to lose?

do u ALWAYS wash ur hair with the baking soda?
No, I don’t always wash my hair with baking soda, but I notice that when I don’t my hair is not as easy to detangle as when I do.
