Plaits /Single Braids / Box Braids / Individual Braids

This is another braidout tutorial. Braidouts are so versatile, so many different methods and so many different looks.

Most of the braidout tutorials I have done in the past have shown the satin scarf cornrow method. However, not everyone is able to do cornrows but most people should be able to do a single braid /plait ( I think).

The method shown in this video has become one of my favorite ways of doing a braidout because it is so easy and I love the look it produces.

Products used:

  • 3 whole satin scarves for each section ( not strips)
  • Silk Remedy
  • Conditioner and Water mix in a spray bottle. (see Products I use here)

    Ok Zan, I tried the Satin Scarf Braid Out. I don’t have the wave pattern that you have. My hair is SL, not sure if that’s my problem. The scarf I used is a multipurpose scarf…duh! not all that thin like your scarfs. I actually had to take it out, because it was entirely to much for my head-like heavy and tight. I’m still pleased with my results. Just don’t have your wave pattern. Oh instead of Silk Remedy I used Chi Silk infusion, not sure what I was to expect but did not like it… It was real slicky like, not thick at all, and did not like the SMELL…no way! Sorry so long. The next time I’m gonna use the same scrarfs that you use, I have 2 just need to purchase more. Ok mam, have a good nite…:}

      LOL. I never used Chi silk fusion. I bought silk remedy at Sally’s because it said it is comparable to Chi and alot of people were raving about Chi. Anyway, I love the Silk Remedy, it isn’t sticky to me. It is more silky than anything else and it smells good. It is the consistency of oil.
      Yeah, I only use my Satin Nites scarf so I can’t tell you how others work. But best to have the right products to start with.
      WHen I first started doing the braids with the scarf I used to make them tight too and had a hard time sleeping in them- I wanted to rip them out of my hair :) (I warned against that in my braidout tips)
      I gradually learned how to make the braid looser. I don’t think the length of your hair is the problem. Maybe it felt heavy because it was tight and you are not used to it. But you will figure it out…you will find the right balance for you.

        Thanks! I will perfect this, because I love it, and it is a neat lil’ hair style w/much versatal. I even got a compliment this week:}.

          Look at you getting compliments on your hair and all. Keep it up and you’ll be getting compliments all the time.
          My favorite though is when they keep staring but don’t realize that they are LOL. Everywhere your hair goes, their eyes follow.

            LOL! I’m learning from “the one who knows”. You are a Great Teacher! When my perm gets older I’ll try it again.
