How To Cut Your Own Hair

How to Cut Your Own Hair. The DIY method. It is fast and easy. So here are the instructions and watch this simple video I made.

  • Flat iron your hair
  • Comb hair straight down your back
  • Pull hair in a low ponytail using an elastic ponytail holder
  • Slide the ponytail holder down the length of your hair.
  • Make sure that the ponytail is centered on your back.
  • Stop slightly above where you want to cut
  • Pull the ponytail over your shoulder
  • Put a 2nd ponytail holder on the end of your ponytail just below where you want to cut
  • The 2nd ponytail holder will keep the hair that you will cut off together and prevent it from scattering. This is the neat way. No cleanup afterwards.
  • Use a pair of sharp scissors to cut above the 2nd ponytail holder
  • After cut, remove the 1st ponytail holder. Hair should be evenly cut across and blunt.
  • Use scissors to trim any stray hairs.

My hair isn’t long enough to cut that way yet. How do you think I should go about cutting it? Or should I just wait until it gets long enough to cut off my split ends?

You should use the search and destroy method to cut off your split ends. Just search for the split ends and clip them one hair at a time when you find them. It helps to look in the mirror and hold your hair up to the light. The hairs that appear white at the ends are split and should be snipped off. Doing this is obviously is not intended to give you a good looking cut, it is just a practical way to get rid of split ends.
