How to Relax / Texlax Your Hair – Videos
Here are a couple of video tutorials on how to self relax or texlax. I never go to the hair salon so I always do my own relaxer. I have been doing this for about 5 years now. I typically purchase the relaxer kit from the drug store and then follow the same process shown in my videos.

I apologize in advance for this long comment:) I have been viewing your website for a few months now and really you are the person that made me want to texlax. I loooove thick hairstyles and never knew how to achieve them unless it was braid out or letting my hair air dry but seeing your method made me reconsider. My plan is to texlax tomorrow after a 16 week stretch but I’m getting kind of scared. I know texlax means another texture added to my head and I dont want to harm my hair in the long run. I read where someone wanted to switch back to relaxed and ppl where saying doing corrective relaxers and all that and personally I’m a self relaxer so doing all that corrective stuff isnt gonna cut it…I know right now natural isnt for me, but I just need a push to go ahead and texlax and try something different then the same ole bone straight relaxed. So how was it for you in the beginning. (O yea I have pretty decent hair its not much of a prob just naturally thick, puts you somewhat in the mindset of Rudy from Cosbys)
Hey Santana, congrats on your decision to texlax!
For me in the beginning was the easy part. The less texlaxed hair I had, the less noticeable the difference was. I did not have a problem with the two textures. You learn that if you want straight hair you just have go put more effort into flat ironing your texlaxed hair while the relaxed hair does not take much o straighten it. I also had no issues with breakage at the demarcation line between th 2 textures.
As far as thickness is concerned, I noticed an improvement in thickness even when I just started texlaxing.
Hope that helps
Zan
Thanks Zan, I decided you only live once so just do it! My new growth has never been much of a prob for me anyway so this should work great for me
If you’ve already texlaxed, let me know how it went.
I did it that day and I was sooo happy with the results! I was a lil nervous b/c I still felt my waves even when I was smoothing but even though they were still pretty much there, it was sooo much more manageable after I was done, I wish I oould post pics to show
